How can I make the most money on a down market? I don’t know about specific stocks but I believe in Armageddon here. What can I invest in that would make me the most money on a major stock market crash? I want to be aggressive. Please explain your answer.
In a down market invest in places and things that people will still need when they are poor (IE: power/energy companies), places people will be more likely to shop (IE: pick the Wal-marts over luxury high end retail stores). You won’t get rich, but you’ll still make money.
As for being aggressive that’s hard to say….depends if you’re looking long term or short term. If the market crashes, you can get all kinds of stocks dirt cheap. If you invest long term it’s just a matter of waiting for them to jump up to normal prices again. References :
Sell Index future (like Dow Jones). Write call options (index or stocks), Buy Put options (index or stocks), Short ETFs/ mutuals that track indices.First two pretty dangerous if you get it wrong! http://www.shareworld.co.uk/index.php?page=falling-market References :
